Upcoming radio show webinar

I am James Encinas, an activist, teacher and author of a forthcoming book about healing from Adverse Childhood Experiences: Wheeling to Healing: Broken Heart on a Bicycle. Having experienced domestic abuse as a child, I am working with Futures Without Violence on an important call to action:

PLEASE ADD YOUR VOICE…

The wound is the place where the Light enters you.

          ~ Rumi

May Rumi’s insight bring you to join a conversation through the power of radio sponsored by Futures Without Violence on Tuesday November 29, 2016 11 am - 12:30 pm PT / 12 noon - 1:30 pm  MST/ 1 pm - 2:30 pm CST/  2 – 3:30 am ET

A couple of months ago I participated in a podcast that deals with the history and background of movements and programs addressing trauma, racial justice, men's use of violence and fatherhood.

You can listen to the podcast at this link: http://youth-employment-econom...easing-silos-part-1/. We ask that you please listen to the podcast, write questions that the conversation elicits in you and submit them to by email to sterlingrose32@gmail.com prior to the program.

Then join us for a conversation on November 29th. The conversation will focus on how every human has the power to receive and give love. Rather than judging and punishing broken people who’ve lost belief in love’s power, we’ll discuss empowerment. There are ways to develop the ability to love one’s self, and in doing so, be able to love others.

Power without love is reckless and abusive and love without power is sentimental and anemic.
~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

When an individual gains true awareness of what happened to them versus what is wrong with them, they achieve true compassion for others. Compassion for others enhances one’s personal responsibility to increase the level of peace and joy in this world.

Please come together as we share our beliefs and our stories on this program. The only thing that separates us as people is our different experiences. Once the power of love is tapped, once hearts open, our collective experiences matter. Use this radio show as an opportunity to be the light.

I will be a panelist in this show, along with Juan Carlos Arean (Futures Without Violence), Audrey Jordan (ADJ Coaching and Consulting) and Jennifer Rose (consultant).

Thank you,

James

I agree Andi our collective experience does matter, now more than ever. In his book Falling Upward, Richard Rohr makes the following statement - "We really do find ourselves through one another's eyes, and only when that has been done truthfully can we mirror others with freedom, truth, and compassion." From my perspective if we are really going to end the cycle of violence in our families, communities, and world we must continue to create pathways to healing that are devoid of judgement and shame.

What you said about experiences separating us from one another struck me. In applying ACES Science, we can recognize that it matters not what the event/experience was but rather if it caused us stress or helped us to recover. As a therapist working with families, I always found it fascinating to explore a shared experience that individuals went through. It turns out that talking about the event itself has more healing power when it is framed in a way that removes the innate tendency to figure out whose perception is RIGHT and integrates the sameness that everyone physically felt as the event was unfolding. As you stated, our collective experiences matter. Thank you for your post!
