| There are lots of different ways to teach our kids how to take deep breaths. One of the best ways is using shapes. Itβs a more playful way to help them keep track of their breathing and slow down. -Start at the bottom left of the triangle. -Breathe in for three counts as you trace the first side of the triangle. -Hold your breath for three counts as you trace the second side of the triangle. -Breathe out for three counts as you trace the final side of the triangle. You have just completed one deep breath.
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying can be verbal, physical, emotional, or digital, and has devastating impacts on children. Bullying can severely impact a child's self image, social interactions, and school performance, and can lead to mental health issues. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network has compiled a list of helpful resources to identify signs of bullying, resources to help if your child has been impacted by bullying, as well as anti-bullying resources to teach your kids.
Thanks to the Kinship Families Coalition of Kentucky for inviting Bounce to present at their most recent monthly forum. During the forum, Dr. Tony Zipple, with the Bounce Coalition, provided foundational knowledge about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and strategies for building resilience with kids and relative and fictive kin caregivers. Find the recording here. Check out Bounce's trainings page for more information about how to schedule a training for your organization or community.
