It's been a tough couple of weeks for Withrow University High School students.
The freshman class, about 380 kids, is not only dealing with the shooting death of a 14-year-old classmate but accusations against another 14-year-old for shooting and killing an eighth-grade girl.
This kind of violence is hard enough for teachers to comprehend, said Withrow Principal Paul Daniels. He hesitates to even speculate how students β or the shooters β feel about it.
"I can't tell you what would drive a person to bring a gun to a fistfight," Daniels said of the incident that killed 14-year-old Jayshawn Martin and wounded three other teens eight days before Tyann Adkins was killed in a nearby Avondale apartment.
