BABY BITS are a program of Smile At Your Baby!, a charitable organization based in WA State. BABY BITS are designed for teen, young, new and soon-to-be parents and are intended to be basic parenting tips. BABY BITS are NOT designed to assist parents in raising the next Mozart or Einstein. They are designed to help break the cycle of uninformed, unhealthy, ignorant parenting. BABY BITS are sent out 5 days a week to subscribers in the U.S. and Canada via text message. They are also posted on several Facebook pages, on our website, and here, on ACEsConnection.
American's open on average 11% of our emails and sometimes it can take us up to 3 days to do that. Text messages have a MUCH higher open and read rate then emails.
82% of low income American's, and 95% of Americans age 18 - 24 own a cell phone. At least 39 U.S. States now offer a free or very low cost cell phone to citizens who qualify for any kind of government assistance program, such as food stamps or Section 8 housing.
The number one reason why parents choose not to participate in parenting classes is due to the perceived social stigma or taboo of needing to ask for assistance with parenting. BABY BITS are completely discreet--nobody ever has to know you're a subscriber!
Other reasons parents may choose not to attend parenting classes are due to a lack of transportation, the inability to afford childcare while at a parenting class, or unreliable Internet access making it difficult if not impossible to participate in on-line parenting classes.
BABY BITS can be accessed for free and by pass all of the reasons listed above for not obtaining assistance with parenting skills.
Smile At Your Baby! is a fan of visiting home nurse programs and believes that such programs have the potential to make a HUGE impact on breaking the cycle of poor parenting. Sadly, visiting home nurse programs are not widely available. In the meantime, and/or in addition to visiting home nurse programs, we invite members of www.ACEsConnection.com to widely share our daily BABY BIT posts and to encourage parents of infants or toddlers to subscribe.
