Here are another three responses from new members to a question about their interest in ACEs: Linda Vorano, Pamela Yenawine and David Braughton. Some of the responses are shortened, so there's a link to their page to read more about them, friend them and/or send a message.
Linda Vorano, Toronto, Canada: Linda grew up in an alcoholic home, joined Adult Children of Alcoholics in her late 30's, "and it turned my life around." She returned to school to earn a diploma in human services counseling, and hopes to work with other adult children of alcoholics and dysfunctional families.
Pamela Yenawine, Louisville, KY: Pamela, a craniosacral therapist, notes that the number of abuse survivors who end up in her office is a "confirmation of my own continuing work to grow beyond, and, in a way, to transform generations of abuse going back and forward in my own family." She became a doula in 2002, and is able "to help more and more moms and babies before, during and after birth to clear 'unseen' trauma as well as trauma from interventions, some necessary, many not."
David Braughton, Tampa, FL: David is president and CEO of the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay, which has spent the last year becoming a center of excellence for trauma informed care. Programs include trauma counseling for children who have been sexually abused, suicide prevention, rape exams, advocacy and counseling and basic life ambulance services to the mentally ill and persons experiencing a medical emergency.
