Why ACES make sense!

It's a long life. One that has many twists and turns. I thought I had all the answers: prayer and meditation every day; and, positive thinking. Little did I know, there was much more to learn.

This is my first blog post on ACEs Connection. I was asked to join in the conversation. I am happy to join in. I have written about Adverse Childhood Experiences as part of an Appendix in my book My Courage to Tell

When I learned about ACES from psychologist Dr. Liam Marshall a few years ago, a lot the ACES study made sense to me. I have written a blog post on my web site that continues to be shared, liked and read. It's been liked over 200 times. People want answers. And I believe childhood trauma is one of the main causes of why our world is the way it is. Brain development in a young child until they are five years old is one of the most amazing parts of science that completely validates everything I talk about.

Since I started my journey to heal from Complex PTSD, I have often tweeted, "It's not what's wrong with you, it's what happened to you." Why? Because I have learned that the experiences I had in childhood have affected me: long-term. Child emotional neglect and emotional abuse are part of the ACES study. I want to bring awareness of how damaging they are.

Let's continue to keep talking. Let's get the word out that childhood is the most important thing in life - and so are our children!

Peace.
