I feel like a Father Knows Best prude when I rail against the sale of alcohol at amusement parks and collegesporting events.
It’s not that I’m a killjoy bent on ushering in a new wave of prohibition.
It’s just that I’m concerned we live in a culture where getting drunk or high doesn’t alarm us the way it should.
But drug and alcohol use among young people is a huge problem, one made painfully clear in a report released Thursday that focuses substance abuse.
Overdose rates among 12- to 25-year-olds more than doubled in 18 states, more than tripled in 12 states and quadrupled in five others.
If that’s not a wake-up a call, a clear sign that America has a huge problem, I don’t know what is.
