Many ethnic groups have cultural dynamics that play into their health care, especially when it comes to trauma, abuse and behavioral health issues.
It is vital that we grow a more diverse workforce to reach California's diverse population.

Dr. Carrie L. Byington, UC Health Executive Vice President
Carrie L. Byington, MD, is an academic physician-scientist who has had continuous grant support as principal or coinvestigator totaling approximately $80 million since 1998. Dr. Byington’s research spans the translational spectrum and has focused primarily on bacterial and viral respiratory pathogens in children. Dr. Joaquin Arambula, Assemblymember, District 31
Dr. Joaquin Arambula was first elected in 2016 to represent the 31st Assembly District in the Central Valley. He is the first Latino physician elected to the California State Assembly. Dr. Sandra Hernández, California Health Care Foundation President/CEO
Prior to joining CHCF, Sandra was CEO of The San Francisco Foundation, which she led for 16 years. She previously served as director of public health for the City and County of San Francisco. She also cochaired San Francisco’s Universal Healthcare Council, which designed Healthy San Francisco. It was the first time a local government in the US attempted to provide health care for all of its constituents. <<READ MORE>>

Griselda Aguilar, MiMentor CEO
Griselda grew up in the Salinas Valley, known as the “Salad Bowl of the World,” where she learned to appreciate the value of hard work, like the lettuce picking her father did in the fields. Karina Diaz, LMSA-West, Northern CEO
Karina Diaz is completing her PhD in molecular and cellular biology and transitioning back to medicine as a third-year medical student at the University of Washington School of Medicine (UW SOM). Her devotion and enthusiasm to providing quality healthcare to the underserved Latinx community have pushed her to pursue a career in both medicine and research in academia so she can contribute as an individual and inspire others to do the same. <<READ MORE>>

Dr. James Cruz is a data driven, transformative physician leader adept at evidence-based physician practice and hospital-physician collaborations which strengthen provider networks, improve access to care, and reduce total cost of care.
