In recent years, calls for philanthropy to listen to community priorities and support efforts to build community power have only grown louder. At the same time, there have been rising concerns about threats to voting rights and democratic participation. But what does community power look like? What is its relationship to health equity and civic participation? And how can funders better build and share power with communities?
The Center for the Study of Social Policy (CSSP) invites you to a virtual Learning, Equity, and Power (LEaP) Pad where you will have the opportunity to hear insights and lessons on building community power from The California Endowment’s (TCE) decade-long Building Healthy Communities initiative. The session will also feature complementary insights and lessons from the Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund’s work to advance rights and create opportunities for all people.
In this session, participants will:
- Listen to an engaging conversation between two philanthropic leaders
- Learn about the relationship between community health, power building, and civic participation
- Learn about resources to help support efforts to build community power
Guest Speakers:
- Cathy Cha, President and CEO, Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund
- Dr. Anthony Iton, Senior Vice President, The California Endowment
