The ACT Facilitator training prepares child and family professionals to conduct a parenting workshop and is the first step to certification as a facilitator of the Adults and Children Together Raising Safe Kids parenting program. ACT Raising Safe Kids is a national parent education program designed by the American Psychological Association as a childhood safety initiative for all families of young children. There are two independent evaluations supporting the effectiveness of ACT RSK to help parents understand and manage children more safely.
ACT RSK workshops mentor adults who care for and teach children from birth to 8 years old to raise children to be safe. The program focuses on strengthening positive parenting skills and empowering parents to meet their goals as caregivers. Parents learn child development, behavior management, tools for positive effective parenting, how to manage conflict, anger, and about children and media. ACT Raising Safe Kids provides parents with access to a supportive network and promotes families to contribute to safe communities. The training use didactic presentations, discussions, role play, problem-solving tasks, and modeling. Participants receive the materials for conducting a parent workshop (facilitator and parent manual, CD of handouts, and didactic materials).
