Join Marcia Stanton, MSW, founder and leader of the Arizona ACE Consortium and recipient of the US Administration of Children, Youth and Families Commissioner's Award:
In Arizona and across the United States, communities are working to understand the incidence and reduce the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). Exposure to potentially traumatic events is an all too common experience for many children. It is estimated that more than 30 percent of Arizona children, birth to age 17, have already experienced two or more ACEs, compared to the national average of 22 percent, putting them at greater risk for negative long-term health and wellbeing across the lifespan. From Oprah Winfreyβs recent 60 Minutes interview on trauma, to federal and state legislation, the topic of ACEs is seeping into personal conversations, professional practice, and policy. This presentation will give a brief overview of the ACE Study and ACE incidence data in Arizona children and adults, and will share significant developments related to ACEs/toxic stress across the state and nation. Learning Objectives After this presentation, attendees will be able to: 1. Explain key findings of the ACE Study and the impact of early adversity on health and wellbeing across the lifespan. 2. List the incidence of ACEs in Arizona children and adults. 3. Identify 3 current ACE-related initiatives nationally and in Arizona. The event is Free - Register online: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/c...stration-48220496804.
