Overview:
War, domestic violence, childhood trauma, campus violence, bullying, terrorism — all of these traumatic life experiences can cause symptom formation and affect the long-term success and retention of college students. Through awareness and understanding, student services personnel, faculty, and staff can be more effective and efficient in services delivery, instruction ,and supports for traumatized students on their campus.
This webinar will provide an in-depth review of these “invisible wounds” and discuss how they can affect performance and achievement. Participants will learn how the entire campus can help students achieve success by becoming trauma-informed. Participants will also be provided with a clear and concise protocol to help student services personnel, faculty, and staff create a campus-wide trauma-informed environment.

 

Participants will:
Review several examples of traumatic life experiences
Discuss ways in which these experiences can alter the success and retention of college students
Be provided with a clear and concise protocol that will help faculty and staff create a campus-wide trauma-informed environment
Consider variables specific to the military veteran student that may impact their successful completion of chosen academic pursuits
