Veteran and military-connected families with children compose a rapidly growing percentage of LA County’s homeless, unemployed, and at-risk population. Reintegration challenges after 12 years of war are taking their toll with divorce, substance abuse, and family violence manifesting in Courts and other public systems. By attending this day-long training, child- and family-serving professionals from multiple disciplines and agencies will be better prepared to meet the challenges and identify opportunities to support families impacted by military service. This includes not only active duty, but the thousands of Reserve, Guard, and Veteran families whose special needs are often unrecognized and therefore unmet.
