Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are stressful or traumatic experiences, such as physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, losing a parent, or having an alcoholic or drug-addicted caregiver.  Incredible advancements have opened the door to understanding how these experiences shape the individual, drive high cost social problems, and become an extremely powerful determination of educational and health outcomes across one’s lifespan.  Washington State is the first in the nation to have detailed information about ACE prevalence and its relationship to mental, physical and behavioral health and other factors that affect worker performance, parenting, and the intergenerational transmission of trauma.  This training will provide the opportunity to learn, practice, and receive support for the most challenging situations.
