A Positive Approach to Teen Health will spotlight stress’s impact on teens as well as how adults can help them cope at its 10th annual seminar, “American Teens in Crisis: Teens Under Stress.”
Parents, community members, youth workers, educators and counselors are invited to attend the event from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 15 at Strongbow Inn, 2405 U.S. 30.
The conference fee is $80 and registration can be completed online at www.pathblazer.org/events/ATIC2014/.
Breakout sessions will focus on topics from coping skills and depression to substance abuse and breaking stereotypes.
All sessions are offered in the AM and PM

SafeTALK, a 3-hour training, teaching you how to identify someone with thoughts of suicide and connect them with help. ANYONE CAN SAVE A LIFE!

An overview of the many pressures our teens face and the unhealthy ways they are coping. We'll offer some helpful tips for how we can encourage our teens to release the pressure in healthy ways.
Risks and protective factors

Teens under pressure often turn to drugs and alcohol as a coping skill. How can we recognize the signs and what can we do?
Rebellious, moody, antisocial & caving to peer pressure
10:05–11:30 am or 2:35 – 4 pm
Not everything is as it appears. We have to look beneath the symptoms and think outside the box. This is a practical session with benefits for both teens and those who serve teens.
