This full-day workshop builds upon the foundational information about the impact of trauma on children that was provided in Part 1. Part 2 moves from theory and science to behavior and practice, offering strategies for child-serving professionals caring for children who have experienced trauma. Part 2 uses the Calm, Attuned, Present, Predictable, and Do not Escalate (CAPPD) framework, which is based on five essential skills that neuroscientist Bruce Perry, MD, has identified as essential for caregivers who work with young children affected by trauma. The curriculum provides multiple opportunities for professionals to learn and practice the CAPPD skills. Prerequisite: It is recommended that participants take the βBecoming Trauma Informed: Part 1β course prior to this workshop.
