Bessel van der Kolk, MD, is Professor of Psychiatry, Boston University School of Medicine, founder and Medical Director of the Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute, and Director of the Complex Trauma Treatment Network of the NCTSN. He has published extensively on the impact of trauma on development, such as dissociative problems, borderline personality and self-mutilation, cognitive development in traumatized children and adults, and the psychobiology of trauma. His current research focuses on the nature and treatment of deficits in affect regulation in PTSD.
