Dr. Susan Limber, noted professor, psychologist, and bullying researcher, will share the latest research on the largest study of bullying prevention efforts in the United States.
As bullying among children and youth remains a serious public health concern in the U.S., effective strategies to prevent bullying are critical. During this webinar, we will share a brief overview of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP). Additionally, Dr. Sue Limber will describe findings from the largest study of bullying prevention efforts in U.S. schools to date, in which researchers evaluated the effectiveness of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program among nearly 70,000 students across 210 elementary, middle, and high schools. Results showed significant and sustained positive impacts of the program with regard to bullying behaviors and students’ perceptions of the school climate that are related to bullying.
We will also share best practices from a large-scale, county-wide implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program, supported by the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health. This multi-year initiative has launched a comprehensive approach to bullying prevention in area schools as a part of the Mental Health Services Act Prevention and Early Intervention offerings in the county, including more than 35 schools and growing.
