Back by popular demand, Linda Chamberlain, PhD, MPH, and Abigail Bocanegra, LMFT, return to our 2025 Forum as featured speakers!
Developmental Scientist Dr. Linda Chamberlain has a renowned ability to translate science into practical strategies and tools that service providers, parents, children, and communities can integrate into daily practices. She will demonstrate techniques to balance the nervous system, highlight surprising facts about the hormone oxytocin, and discuss polyvagal insights for parenting – all with a focus on building collective resilience.
Expressive Arts Psychotherapist Abigail Bocanegra will share how she centers cultural wisdom and integrates the healing arts into her therapeutic work with children and families. Abigail’s approach revitalizes Indigenous health and healing practices through the arts, offering a holistic method for reconnecting with ancestral and innate healing capacities. Her work is deeply rooted in her Mexican-American/Chicana heritage, drawing from her family’s Nahua, Huastec, and Spanish lineage.
Dr. Ben Danielson, pediatrician and community advocate, joins the Forum once again to provide opening remarks and reflections. Dr. Danielson is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, University of Washington, School of Medicine, and Center Director at AHSHAY, a program that tackles youth incarceration by promoting paths to opportunity for young people, especially youth of color.
Attendees will learn the latest research on the role of the nervous system in healing trauma, building resilience, and preventing burnout; develop an expanded understanding of a culturally responsive and expressive arts approach to healing; and gain practical tools and skills they can apply immediately to their own work.
