CONFRONTING THE DEVASTATION OF COVID-19 IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY: UTILIZING FAITH BASED APPROACHES

This webinar will discuss the negative impact of the COVID-19 Virus and the intersectionality of historical racism, inequities and disparities, and the role that faith and spirituality play in the lives of African Americans. This will be an interactive webinar that provides participants the opportunity to discuss their prospective related to the COVID-19 Virus; Sheltering in Place Protocols; Mental Wellness; and the role of Faith-Leaders and the Black Church.

Webinar Objectives:

1. Identify the tools needed to appropriately respond to the urgent needs of African Americans seeking culturally responsive support to manage their mental wellness through the COVID -19 Virus Pandemic and beyond.
2. Describe historical and structural barriers of racism that has resulted in the disproportionate impact of negative consequences on the African American community, as it relates to COVID- 19.
3. Describe best practices to reduce risk factors associated with inequities and disparities in the Black community.
4. Participate in a discussion that acknowledges faith and spiritual practices as key protective factors for most African Americans.
