This is a self-paced, self-guided 4 module course that covers the basics of Universal Design and is geared for therapists, social workers, educators and any human service provider. You will have from April 13th to May 2nd to complete the course.
Universal Design for Learning is an approach based in cognitive neuroscience aimed at supporting educators and related service providers as they strive to create equitable and inclusive learning and living spaces for learners of all ages online and in person.
This four module workshop uses modeling and direct instruction to provide :
-An introduction to the basic tenants of Universal Design for Learning
- An introduction to the social model of disability and how it is used to reframe planning and implementation
-Techniques to identify the needs of your space so you can begin to apply the tenants of UDL
- A discussion on the role and importance of representation as it relates to fostering inclusive spaces
Attendees will walk away with a more concrete understanding and practice on how to make adaptations and modifications through the lens of trauma sensitivity and universal design to humans in our learning spaces that have multiple types of needs
