Based on evidence, self-care, self-awareness, and empathy are critical for peer support. Join SAMHSA’s Program to Achieve Wellness on Mondays (July 24, July 31, August 7, and August 14) from 12pm to 1pm ET for Enhancing Personal Capacity for Wellness to learn more about these essential values. Participants will learn how to infuse wellness principles into peer support services, on both an individual and organizational level. This webinar series is designed for providers of various types of support, such as peer support, family support, and being a caregiver. These various roles offer peer social support, which is associated with lower risks of premature death or mortality (Shirom, Toker, & Alkaly, 2011). Through this series, webinar participants will learn several strategies for maintaining one’s own wellness while delivering support services, helping promote well-being for both the individual offering support and those being supported. This four-part series is led by: - Cathy Cave, Co-Director, SAMHSA’s Program to Achieve Wellness
- Johanna Bergan, Executive Director, Youth M.O.V.E. National
- Peggy Swarbrick, Ph.D., Senior Consultant, SAMHSA’s Program to Achieve Wellness
The series not only includes four informational webinars, but participants will receive direct access to tools for promoting self-care to increase wellness and support recovery. Webinar Schedule - Monday, July 24 | 12pm – 1pm ET
