Members of Epic’s Trauma-Informed Care workgroup discuss the formation of their learning collaborative and share examples of how the EMR could be used as a tool in the transformation towards trauma-informed care.

Lisa has a B.A. in Psychology and a career in IT that includes 11 years with Epic’s Quality Management and User Experience teams. In 2020, she and a colleague co-founded Epic’s Trauma-Informed Care workgroup with the goal of investigating how Epic might be able to support the TIC movement. Since then, they’ve established a learning collaborative similar to TICHER within the Epic community and have launched several projects to integrate trauma-informed care principles in Epic’s software.
Emily Barey RN, MSN
Vice President of Nursing at Epic
Emily leads the Epic Nursing Advisory Council, consults with Epic customers on strategies for comprehensive care record adoption, and collaborates with Epic research and development teams to support interdisciplinary practice. She contributes to product management in the areas of nursing, community health and social care, and was part of the team that architected the first integrated health and social care record as part of the Epic-Apotti program in Helsinki, Finland. Since 2020, Emily has also collaborated with the Scottsdale Institute, leading their annual Social Determinants of Health Summit with national leaders from population health, community health and investment, and health equity. She is a graduate of the Yale School of Nursing.
