Day 2 of the Faces of ACEs - Lifelong Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences conference
What is Resilience? Resilience is the ability to cope and bounce back from the difficulties of life. No matter your ACE score, having strong, stable relationships can build resilience. Our goal is to create a supporting and strengthening community here in Monroe County. Having a supportive community can build resilience one person at a time and can lessen the impact of ACEs on you and your family.
Today's event will provide hands-on experiential techniques to promote resilience and coping skills. This event is for community members and professionals. It will promote the building of a common community language around ACEs as well as ways our community and individuals can work to build resilience and healing. The goal will be to reduce stigma and show how ACEs impact mental health and addictions. Volunteers will be on-hand to teach coping skills to help calm anxiety and emotional distress. Kids can even create a "coping skills box" to take home with them!
We will also have local community partners on-site to provide information on local resources and services.
