From ACEs to Resilience: Promising Practices for Thriving Communities [Northport, ME]

The first Annual Thriving Maine Communities Conference will be held on Nov. 3-4, 2015 at Point Lookout in Northport, Maine - featuring Dr. Robert Anda, Dr. Ken Ginsburg and Jane Stevens as keynote speakers on Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Resilience. Panel sessions over the two days will feature the variety and diversity of initiatives happening throughout Maine designed to share vision, ideas, experiences and opportunities designed to build Thriving Communities throughout Maine. The local initiatives discussed may range from wellseated, fairly long-term initiatives to start-ups. Individuals/agencies interested in presenting local efforts are invited to submit a brief proposal in one or more of the following four (4) tracks or categories: • Awareness/Education • Screening/Identification • Prevention • Intervention/Treatment The MRBN takes a cross-sector approach to the work, touching all disciplines and domains as partners in collaboration to build solutions. Attendees will include a wide audience: K-12 and post-secondary educators; medical, healthcare and behavioral health providers; juvenile justice; social service agencies; law enforcement; early care and education; child welfare; clergy; business leaders; policy makers and legislators; community residents of all ages. Panels will consist of 3-4 presenters, each with a 10-15 minute presentation on their initiative or topic. The remainder of the 90 minute breakout sessions will provide time for participant and presenter Q&A and discussion. Each presenter will be limited to five (5) PowerPoint slides, although presentations without slides are strongly encouraged! Proposal Deadline: July 8th, 2015 @5pm. Only online submissions will be accepted.
