Equity & Trauma-Informed Practices Are Essential to Our ACE Work With Families
This webinar is part three of a three-part series developed by Futures Without Violence as part of the ACEs Aware Core Training initiative (www.ACEsAware.org). It will focus on practical skills, including a universal education approach for talking with families about ACEs, providing supports for those at risk of experiencing toxic stress, and promoting family resiliency.
Participants must attend all three sessions and complete all registration and evaluation forms in order to receive ACEs Aware certification. The previous sessions are available at here, and should be viewed before this session.
Participants will be given access to an online portal with additional training resources (slides, handouts, etc.) upon registration.
The intended audience for this session includes providers and staff working in pediatric and primary care settings that will be implementing ACE screening. The training is available to any provider, but it is particularly geared towards primary care clinicians who serve Medi-Cal (California’s Medicaid program) beneficiaries. Note: those who are NOT seeking ACEs Aware certification are welcome to attend any and all sessions.
At the end of this session, participants will be better able to:
- Apply trauma-informed practices to build trust with families and to promote universal access to patient education and resources that promote healing.
- Understand universal education/patient education as an important tool to address patients who don’t or can’t disclose information.
- Describe CUES evidence-based intervention and how it can support ACE screening.
- Describe new community partnerships and staffing strategies that could promote equity.
