Green Communities and Equitable Economic Development: Improving Well-being Through Sustainability, Broad Inclusivity, and Innovative Collaboration

Economic development and social and environmental responsibility do not always go hand in hand, but when they do this type of green vision for economic growth can have positive results for health and well-being. Climate and environment are closely linked to economic factors such as job creation, housing, living wages, and business growth. We know that improving a local economy can lead to a Culture of Health  , but what can communities do to ensure growth is equitable, sustainable, and inclusive?

Join County Health Rankings & Roadmaps and the City of Gonzales, CA   to learn from the experiences of this 2019 RWJF Culture of Health Prize winner. This small agricultural town, nestled into an affluent county on California’s central coast, is home to a majority Latino community with a vibrant and engaged youth population, and leadership at all levels are dedicated to advancing the health of the local economy, the environment, and all residents. Together we will learn about:
•    Launching a Green initiative (Gonzales Grows Green, G3) centered on economic vitality, environmental responsibility, and social equity that is relevant for your community
•    Building authentic collaboration and multi-sector partnerships with an equity lens
•    Using community engagement, education, and cultural and linguistic approaches
•    Overcoming challenges and set-backs to inspire adaption, innovation and an engaged community

County Health Rankings & Roadmaps will host a one-hour interactive virtual discussion at 4pm ET, immediately following the webinar. We encourage you to participate in an engaging dialogue with peers across the country to share your experiences navigating the pandemic and your thoughts on how the strategies shared during the webinar may work in your community. Mark your calendars and plan to stay as long as you're able!
