On behalf of the Tribal Justice Collaborative in California, we want to extend a personal invitation to attend our Annual Judicial Gatherings of California. There will be three (3) dinners held throughout the state. Each event will be a hybrid of in-person and virtual and will reflect the unique history and culture of each region. This year we are especially pleased to announce the Inaugural Judges’ Dinner for Central California to be held on Friday, October 28th, 2022, with networking at 3:00 p.m.
The goal of our events is to strengthen a collaborative network of Judicial champions and allies for ICWA implementation in California that is an authentic resource for Indian children and families in care. We know that ICWA implementation is not consistent across California counties and jurisdictions. When state courts, state/county child welfare, tribal child welfare services, tribes, and other stakeholders are in alignment with ICWA, Indian children and families experience better outcomes.
To achieve this goal every event includes the latest legislative updates affecting ICWA implementation, updates in case law, round table discussions about promising and best practices for courts, state and tribal child welfare, and collaboration within these systems. We are inviting you to be part of this effort and engage in focused conversations that improve practice, collaboration, and communication.
The Judicial Gatherings began in 2012 as a simple dinner for state court and tribal court judges who championed ICWA in Southern California. It has since grown into a statewide event these past few years. For more information, please visit https://www.home.tlpi.
