Inclusive Diabetes Care understands that it is inaccurate to think systemic issues are ‘fixed’. This one-and-done approach just keeps oppressive structures in place. The IDC is here to help individuals, organizations, communities and national associations untangle the many oppressive systems that maintain health inequity in diabetes care. The IDC certificate is a 35-hour program that is offered over 11-months. It provides a layered learning approach that focuses on 5 tracks.
- What is inclusive diabetes care?
- How can you foster health equity in diabetes care?
- How does trauma impact diabetes care?
- What is effective and inclusive counseling sound like?
- How can we foster change without increasing disordered eating and disordered coping?
Each track intersects to build your understanding of issues and it also supports you to explore the nuanced aspects of weight, gender, and racial and economic oppression related to diabetes care.
After completing the 25-hours of education, and our 11-hours of monthly live coaching the certificate is awarded to an individual who correctly answers 120 of the 150-question exam.
