Introduction to Mindfulness Series: Our Storytelling Minds- Mindfulness of Thought (2 of 4)

You’ve heard the word “Mindfulness” but what does it really mean? You might have been told, “Pay attention!” but have you ever been taught how?

If you’re feeling worried, anxious, or fearful this class might have something for you! In partnership with Greater Richmond SCAN, this four-week interactive series is brought to you by Annette Nelms, owner of Mindful Matters. This Introduction to Mindfulness course demystifies the word “mindfulness”, teaches how to build resilience as well as how to practice awareness and self-compassion.

* Since this class is taught in four sessions which build on one another, there are no drop-ins. Please click on the individual links above to register in advance for each of the four sessions. We will send you the Zoom link for each class the week it’s being taught *

BIO: Nothing in either her work as a corporate trainer or in her studies for a master's degree prepared Annette for the challenges and excitement she would experience as a Residential Food & Clothing Manager (commonly known as a Stay-at-Home Parent). As such, when her boys were young, she found herself getting angry over little things or for no apparent reason and in 2016 she learned about mindfulness as a healthier coping method. She went on to receive her training through Mindful Schools & is currently pursuing a Mindfulness Teacher Certification through the Greater Good Science Center at USC Berkeley. Annette lives with her family in Richmond, Virginia where she teaches mindfulness in the community through her company Mindful Matters, LLC.
