A half-day statewide learning forum for Iowa educators and practitioners across multiple disciplines, including business leaders, philanthropists, and policy makers to learn about the groundbreaking research on the impact of toxic stress on early brain architecture and its link to poor health outcomes across the lifespan.
The forum features two speakers: CDC ACE Study co-founder Dr. Robert Anda, and Laura Porter, founder and staff director of the Washington State Family Policy Council, which was instrumental in developing a community-based response to integrating ACE concepts.
The ACEs summit planning consortium comprises the Mid-Iowa Health Foundation, United Ways of Iowa, Iowa Department of Public Health, Child and Family Policy Center, Iowa Health System-Des Moines, Prevent Child Abuse Iowa, Child Guidance Center and Des Moines Public Schools
