We're thrilled to have with us Jessica Jackson Sloan, former mayor of Mill Valley and a human rights attorney who began her career representing California death row inmates in their appeals. After her husband was incarcerated, she set out to change the prison system [read more about this].
Jessica now oversees DreamCorps #cut50, a national bipartisan effort to smartly and safely reduce America’s incarcerated population by 50 percent over the next 10 years. #Cut50 works in all 50 states by translating local needs into smart safety solutions. Bringing together unlikely allies, identifying breakthrough policies, and implementing new approaches to safety and rehabilitation. By recognizing the humanity of those impacted, we can change laws in order to create safer streets and more peaceful neighborhoods.
As always, these events are friendly (and feature a tasty breakfast). It's a week from Thursday, 7:30-9am (sharp) and $30... Hope to see you there! ~ Nick
