This symposium will present a theory and concepts of structural racism and its impact on human behavior in the social environment to expand Social work practice, knowledge, and skills in addressing racial inequities in human services. In addition, the workshops will support an understanding of resilience and trauma as it applies to communities of color. Exploration of a cross systems analysis of race equity achievement as well as a development of best practices and internal structures to enhance antiracist work.
Workshop 1: Utilizing Race Equity Lens Across Systems - This workshop will speak to the importance of bridging the gap between systems through advocacy and linkages as a way to identify how systems can speak the same language in addressing racial disproportionality
Workshop 2: Introducing Undoing Racism - Community Partnership: Organizing and the importance of the work on race equity - This panel discussion will share how agencies applied concepts from the Undoing Racism workshops into implementation and practical examples exemplifying where agencies have grown and the vision for next level implementation.
Workshop 3: Sustainability and longevity: How to create transformational change in agency culture to inspire leadership and antiracist programming - This workshop will explore and discuss the practice of sustainability. Presenters will offer a view into the challenges and successes of longstanding non-profit commitments to addressing issues of race, racism and organizational culture
Workshop 4: Disrupting the Still-Face Culture of Institutional Racism: A Trauma-Informed Perspective - This workshop will explore the deeper relationships between racism, trauma, and the importance of studying resilience
