Research shows that childhood traumas impact brain development and affect a child’s cognitive, social, and mental health in ways that follow them into adulthood. Building resilience is a key strategy for providing children with the capacity to manage the negative effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). NW Children’s Fund’s public forum, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Building Resilience, will feature moderated conversations with three local nonprofit leaders who are using the ACEs framework to shape direct services with children and families.

Following the public forum, NW Children’s Fund, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and Casey Family Programs invite grantmakers to participate in a Philanthropy Northwest member briefing. At 2:15 p.m., join Philanthropy Northwest and your grantmaking peers for an interactive discussion that will reveal how funders around the region are supporting ACEs research and application. Funders are not required to attend the public forum, but it is suggested if you would like to deepen your understanding of the ACEs research and on-the-ground application.

Both programs will be hosted Downstairs at Town Hall Seattle, 1119 8th Ave Seattle, WA 98101.

For more information please contact Lyn Hunter, senior program manager, at lhunter@philanthropynw.org or 206.443.8461.
