Organized By: University of Minnesota

Please join us and listen in on a conversation with Alison Steier and Geoffrey Nagle about their experiences in Arizona and Louisiana addressing the questions:

  • What do children and parents with adverse childhood experiences need?
  • What is our role…as child care providers, home visitors, mental health providers?
  • How do we build a trauma-informed early childhood system?

Geoffrey Nagle is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health at Tulane University and Director of Tulane University Institute of Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health. In addition, Geoffrey is the State Director of BrightStart, Louisiana’s Early Childhood Advisory Council. In this role he works closely with state government leaders to enhance Louisiana’s early childhood system and to increase the opportunities to provide high quality early care and education.  Alison Steier is director of the Harris Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Training Institute at Southwest Human Development in Phoenix. Alison also directs an in-house mental health consultation service, the Birth to Five Helpline and the Fussy Baby Program. She has provided infant mental health training to Child Protective Services and Arizona’s Juvenile Judges and Commissioners as well as serving as a consultant on the Governor’s Subcommittee on Child Welfare Reform. The Harris Forum is sponsored by Irving Harris Programs at the University of Minnesota and is free to all attendees. (Web Broadcast to Greater MN)
