Mindfulness in Therapy and Self Care [Connecticut]

Mindfulness in Therapy and Self Care [Connecticut]

Mindfulness in Therapy and Self Care
with Dr. Ingeborg Haug
Mindfulness practices consist of the teachable skills of focused concentration, mindful awareness, and loving kindness. In-depth understanding and practice of these skills form the core of this workshop. From there participants will review the body of research supporting the health benefits of mindfulness practices and their use in enhancing therapists' ability to be present for their clients in emotionally challenging situations. Participants will learn how to use mindfulness approaches as therapeutic interventions and how these practices can also help prevent compassion fatigue. This curriculum will address the ways that being intensely involved with people in distress can lead to physical, mental and emotional exhaustion for therapists. These stressors can affect us personally and professionally and can lead to, among other problems, lapses in ethical professional behavior. This training will review a plethora of strategies for self-care and renewal with mindfulness as a central and centering practice.
