Research shows that childhood traumas impact brain development and affect a child’s cognitive, social, and mental health in ways that follow him into adulthood. Building resilience is a key strategy for providing children with the capacity to manage the negative effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs). This conversation features leaders using the ACEs framework to build a stronger future for at-risk children, and a better community for us all. The panel, moderated by Laura Porter, director of ACE Partnerships for Washington DSHS, includes Brigid Collins of Whatcom County’s Family Support Center and representatives from the Jumping Mouse Children’s Center in Jefferson County and Parent Trust for Washington Children. Presented by the NW Children’s Fund Forum. Advance tickets are $15 at http://events.constantcontact.com and at the door. For more information, call 206/407-2163.
