This CalTrin-hosted presentation will focus on the age range of 0 to 5 and how you can support caregivers regarding challenging behaviors from their young children. Specific developmental considerations will be discussed as well as current terms for how these problems may be labeled (e.g., PTSD, developmental trauma disorder, etc.). Strong emphasis will be placed on myths (e.g., when a parent is told, “your child has reactive attachment and they can’t get better from that”) versus facts (e.g., how traumatic stress impacts early childhood development) for this age range. Additionally, concrete tools and resources (e.g., specific treatments) to support caregivers of these children will be discussed.
