The Illinois Department of Public Health, Minority Health Conference Planning Committee would like to invite you to consider being a workshop presenter at our Minority Health Conference, December 4th and 5th, in Bloomington, Illinois.
The theme for this year’s conference is “Achieving a Healthy Illinois by Eliminating Health Disparities.”
Preconference Workshops, Sunday, December 3rd, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Conference Day 1, Monday, December 4th, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
- Conference Day 2, Tuesday, December 5th, 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Poster Exhibition, December 4th & December 5th, 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Purpose:
We understand that eliminating health disparities calls for a paradigm that considers a complex interaction of factors, including not limited to healthcare access but also biological, behavioral, social, environmental, economic, cultural, and political aspects.
Conference Objectives:
This conference will address a variety of topics on advancing the health and well-being of minority and underserved populations in Illinois.
The Minority Health Conference is designed to:
- Improve knowledge on health disparities and social justice issues and how they affect health outcomes.
- build competencies among healthcare professionals and develop collaboration with other service providers and community partners in serving minorities and other disadvantaged communities in Illinois.
- improve the health and wellbeing of Illinois’ racial and ethnic minority populations through the development of health policies and culturally linguistically appropriate programs that will eliminate health disparities.
The three-day conference is structured into multi-topic sessions with four distinct breakout session tracks for oral and poster presentations:
- Evaluation, Research and Data Reporting
- Innovative and Evidence-based Approaches to Addressing Health Equity
- Building Unprecedented Partnerships and Collaborations
- Understanding Disparities in Healthcare Accessibility for Chronic Diseases
