Prevention and Mitigation of Adverse Childhood Experiences through Triple P – the Positive Parenting Program

Ann Martin Center 1375 55th Street, Emeryville, CA 94608

In its trauma toolkit, the American Academy of Pediatrics highlights Triple P as an excellent evidence-based parenting program for addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs). This talk will provide an overview of the Triple P system and how it may be configured within communities to improve child welfare outcomes. As a prevention program, Triple P can help transform communities into places where positive parenting becomes the norm. And as an early intervention, it can address moderate to severe child behavior problems stemming from ACEs. Triple P strengthens families by improving the quality of parent-child relationships, by using positive parenting strategies, and by coaching parents in self-regulation skills. ACE data for Alameda County will be discussed as well as clinical outcomes in other California counties. Ann Martin Center Professional Lecture Series.
