This no-cost provider engagement training is provided in collaboration with the ACEs Aware Initiative, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and The Raise Foundation, convening Orange County’s Child Abuse Prevention Council, to identify and develop ACEs-informed and trauma-informed networks of care.
This workshop will address concepts related to children witnessing domestic and intimate partner violence. The first part of the workshop will focus on defining domestic violence (DV) and intimate partner violence (IPV) and discuss how the law looks at these concepts and legal constructs associated with children witnessing DV/IPV.
The second part of the workshop will focus on the trauma and various psychological effects associated with children observing domestic violence and intimate partner violence. The workshop will also include a discussion regarding the legal mandate for mental health workers to report child abuse when witnessing domestic violence, as well review the statutes and laws regarding mandated reporting specific to the state of California.
