Racialized Trauma and Child Well-Being: Powerful insights and Practical Tools for Healing

Virtual

NW Children's Foundation's virtual Forum centers racial equity at its core.  It will feature trauma specialist and NYT best-selling author Resmaa Menakem (My Grandmother’s Hands), the leading voice in today’s conversation about racialized trauma and healing solutions. Menakem works with many groups across the U.S. on understanding racial and intergenerational trauma --- specifically, how trauma resides in the body. His innovative and holistic approach focuses not only on individuals and families but also on the systems that surround us.

Building on Menakem’s session, Benjamin Danielson, MD, child advocate and pediatrician, will share his views on the intersect of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and intergenerational trauma. He will be joined by three panelists who will address concrete ways they are working to mitigate and heal racialized trauma in their respective organizations and communities. Attendees will walk away with conceptual tools and practical strategies that support traumatized children, youth and families.

This virtual Forum is approved for 4 hours of continuing education credit (CEUs/STARS)  and open to anyone in the world. To make the Forum affordable for everyone, our ticket prices are offered on a sliding scale, including a no-cost option.
