Organized By: The MENTAL HEALTH LEGAL ADVISORS COMMITTEE

The MENTAL HEALTH LEGAL ADVISORS COMMITTEE presents a full-day seminar for attorneys and other professionals of all levels of experience on matters of critical importance to zealous representation of children with behavioral health needs. This program offers morning sessions that include a keynote address by Marylou Sudders on the State of the State of Children’s Behavioral Health in Massachusetts. The morning also includes a session on Trauma-informed Representation of Children with Behavioral Health Needs and the Impact of Trauma on Child Development. In the afternoon, faculty will discuss Behavioral Health Services in Urban Education and Best Practices for Mental Health Treatment of Children in DCF Custody. This training will use a lecture format for its sessions with time for questions from the audience. Our goal is to provide information and improve skills to keep attorneys and advocates up to date on clinical information and legal strategies to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and families with behavioral health needs.
