Resilience documentary screening and panel discussion

Alcazar Theater Carpinteria

The Carpinteria Children’s Project is proud to present a free screening of the award-winning one-hour documentary film RESILIENCE: The Biology of Stress & the Science of Hope. “The child may not remember, but the body remembers.” Researchers have found that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs)—such as abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction—cause toxic stress that can alter brain development, with potential lifelong effects including increased risk of physical and mental illness, substance abuse, and family violence. RESILIENCE chronicles the birth of a new movement among pediatricians, therapists, educators and communities, who are using cutting-edge brain science to help parents and children disrupt the cycle of violence, addiction and disease.

Join us for a free screening of RESILIENCE, followed by an engaging panel discussion. Registration is not required. For more information, contact Maria Chesley at mchesley@carpchildren.org.
