The cumulative toll of persistent, atmospheric trauma – direct, vicarious, and system-induced - looms large for too many, if not all organizations working in service to young people of color. The daily distress and dehumanization that our communities experience impact our organizations as well. This is understandable and even expected. However, without attention and intention to address the toll of such terror, or if we only move the work with best intentions, we run the risk of becoming rigid and reactionary in our work. We may become even more distanced from the communities we are a part of and in service to. What is needed just as ever, more than ever, is for our organizations and agencies to be responsive, compassionate, and ever strident towards liberation.
In the 6th and final session of this Series, we invite you to Radical Healing for Systems Transformation: Building Collective Care in our Organizations. We are pleased to have Dr. Shawn Ginwright of Flourish Agenda as our featured presenter. Dr. Ginwright will be sharing a framework and principles of radical healing, where culture and connection are centered, where relationships are primary, and where our success is beloved community. We hope you can join us.

ABOUT THE LEARNING SERIES: RYSE works to shift the conditions of inequity and dehumanization of young people of color in our community. Our aim is to transform and create systems that effectively respond to and meet their priorities, needs, and interests. Towards this, we hold and cultivate a beloved community that meets young people where they are, supports them in where they want and need to go, stays brave and loving with them and on their behalf. Now in its 4th year, the Series' events continue to engage our communities in collective learning, shared commitment, and healing-centered practices to best serve our young people and families.

WHO: The Learning Series is geared toward those in the public health, social services, community-based programs, education, public systems and agencies, philanthropy, and research. While this session is open to all from surrounding regions, RYSE centers the priorities, needs, and interests of young people of color from Richmond and West Contra Costa. NOTE: Multiple staff from one agency or program are welcome, with a limit of 5.
