SoCAL ACEs Group is Pleased to Announce:
San Diego "Late Lunch" Meeting, Friday November 1. Time: 2:30 pm-4:30 pm
Bangkok West Thai Cafe, 9119 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, San Diego 92123 (Delicious!)
(Convenient to bi-monthly Nov.1 meeting of SD-TIGT at Mental Health Systems)
Let's start SoCAL ACEs meetings with local in-person groups -- just a get-to-know you. We could share our personal histories of how we first became interested in ACE issues, and what we'd each like to accomplish in future.
There's been much interest in San Diego County – home of the ACE Study, after all. So I thought to start this way, rather internet meetings (I'm web-ignorant).
I'm happy to organize smaller meetings closer to LA and in each local area. I'm in the middle in zip 92629, and can host for folks in between LA and San Diego.
San Diego Trauma-Informed Guide Team (SD-TIGT) is quite active. Its mission is "to promote the development and provision of trauma-informed services in San Diego County’s agencies." Three focus areas are the ACE Study, treating the whole person (not just the problem they came in with), and preventing cycling through systems of care. SoCAL ACE members in the area are very interested in SD-TIGT's agenda. There is interest in Dr. Bruce Perry's work on the impact of trauma on the brain and the implications for treatment, on the needs of local clinics in struggling communities, and in helping survivors of intimate partner violence. My interest is getting the SD-TIGT Trauma Informed concept out to the general population, to alert the public that our brains develop better with attuned attachment, that some 50%of Americans have issues with this -- and that few of us know it.
All members of ACEsConnection welcome!
