About the Presenter:
Larry Wohlgemuth is a recovering alcoholic and drug addict who experienced severe sexual and physical abuse for eight years, beginning at age 3. That was followed by 42 years of PTSD and Complex Trauma. Six years ago he discovered eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR), which has eliminated his symptoms. Larry currently works as a victims’ advocate. He is a member of the Crime Victim Advisory Board in the Iowa Attorney General’s office, and the Iowa Organization for Victims’ Assistance (IOVA) board. He conducts victims’ impact panels and in-service trainings for the Iowa Dept. of Corrections and the Attorney General’s office. His book, Larry Tells Stories: A Journey of Sexual Abuse, PTSD, and Recovery, was written to help victims of childhood sexual abuse and other types of trauma to identify and to understand that they, too, can heal. Larry holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Washburn University in Topeka, KS. He is married and currently resides in Ankeny, Iowa.
