Peer providers can provide many key roles in supporting trauma-informed approaches. Peers are frequently the person that those receiving services connect with surrounding stories of survival, healing, hope, and recovery. Training can define and strengthen their role in ACT, crisis services, behavioral health, substance use, and integrated health settings. The two day Training Trauma-Informed Peers Supporters provides the peer workforce with skills, knowledge, and resources to provide peer support using a trauma-informed lens.

Join us on April 15 to learn about the curriculum, the key roles of trauma-informed peer providers, and how to access this new National Council product.  You will hear from Dennis Bach, Director of Via Hope Mental Health Resources, who has been a true visionary of supporting workforce development for the Texas certified peer support workforce. Cheryl Sharp, Senior Advisor for Trauma-Informed Services, will also walk participants through the core elements of the training.Takeaways:

  • Trauma-informed approaches include the voice of lived experience and consumer voice, choice, and advocacy
  • Strengthen peer supporter to bring the trauma-informed lens to the workforce
  • Trauma-informed interventions peer providers can deliver
  • Understand where clinical ends and peer support begins
  • Randomized trial outcomes showing significant impact on improving health
