This day-long, interactive workshop explores how a variety of traumatic experiences may impact people accepting care and their care partners, and engages the audience in understanding the challenges and rewards of addressing the needs of those affected by trauma in their unique practice settings.
The workshop runs from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 a.m. in Omaha, Nebraska
THE WORKSHOP WILL:
+ Define trauma in the context of a strengths-based and person-directed care model, with an exploration of the ways unresolved and unrecognized trauma may keep Elders and care partners from full participation in the community of care.
+ Outline key considerations in introducing trauma awareness and responsiveness in your organization. Participants will begin to build a toolkit of evidence-based resources, including instruments for organizational assessment and screening tools for both staff and Elder trauma.
+ Support immediate implementation of the new CMS regulations mandating trauma-informed care at your long-term care home, or for best practices in home and community-based organizations.
