Presented by Mark Freado, President of Reclaiming Youth International, and Dr. Erik Laursen of Charterhouse School at UMFS, this session provides adult supporters of youth in foster care an overview of the long-term consequences of adverse childhood experiences and an overview of The Brain Rules guiding normal brain development.

Participants will: 1. Learn about the devastating impact traumatic experiences can have on children, altering their physical, emotional, cognitive, and social development. 2. Discover how traumatic events in childhood increase the risk for a host of social, emotional, neuro-endocrinologic and physical health problems. 3. Find out how adults can help children in foster care better understand the traumatic events affecting their lives and to identify and build on their strengths.

Below is a list of the trainings taking place in each of the five regions. (see website link)

The cost of the training is $50 for local DSS and private providers, and $20 for resource parents. Lunch will be provided.
